About Steve Briers Disco Roadshow Steve also offers a unique ‘Dial-A-DJ Service, whereby if he is unavailable to undertake a booking for a client, he will offer to find another DJ offering a similar reliable service, who Steve would personally recommend as being a reputable alternative to himself, and put the client in touch with that DJ. There is no charge to the client for this service, or commission payable by the recommended DJ. The price is still the same to the client. The client will then deal with that DJ direct. Steve offers this service to ensure that he can still assist a client even if he is unavailable for a certain date, the simple business logic being that he will be the first DJ the client rings if they need the services of a DJ again in the future. Steve is also able to provide a unique service for your wedding day, as a very nice alternative to the church organist, a musician, a choir or singer, who traditionally provide music in the church or at your civil ceremony. Steve can set up a small PA system at your wedding venue, and can play your pre-arranged music while your guests are arriving, the bridesmaids entrance, the bride's entrance, the signing of the register, and, the bride & groom, and congregation leaving the venue for the photographs. He is also fully CRB checked through several different organisations, which is very reassuring for bookers, particularly with regard to Children’s Parties, and Family Events. He is the Guinness World’s Fastest Backwards Talker, and has been in many editions of the Book of Guinness World Records. Steve has the unique talent of being a fluent ‘backwards talker’, with his unique ability to reverse words instantly, like a new language. For example, ‘Have A Nice Day’ becomes:-‘Evah A Ecin Yad. Although he is not in the current edition of the book due to the format of the book changing every year, Steve is still on The Guinness World Records Database as The World record Holder. Steve started as a Mobile DJ in 1980 working at private functions at various venues and Summer Season work at various Holiday Camps and Family entertainment venues. Nightclub residencies from 1985 include Mecca and Rank contracts at ‘The Aviary’-Swansea, ‘Busbys’ - Bristol, ‘Bowies’ - Cardiff, First Leisure at ‘Coco Savannah’ in Cardiff, Martha’s Vineyard and Bonkers Fun pub in Swansea. In 1995 started a residency at 980 Capacity ‘DJ’s’ in Tenby as well as working as the Promotions manager organising all the promotions on the various nights, booking and organising the Live PA’s and Club Acts, and having complete control of all aspects of this Department. In August 1996 the club was sold to the current owners who re-employed Steve in the same capacity, and re-named the club ‘The Night Owl’. Steve left the Night Owl in July 2003 after a change of ownership and currently offers his Mobile Disco Roadshow service at various venues for many varied functions from family parties to corporate parties and functions with and without cabaret support. Steve is also available for Children’s Parties in South Wales, where he will provide a Disco Show, as well as providing various Fun Party games for the Children. Steve has current club residencies at Minnie’s in Haverfordwest and The Prince Of Wales in Tenby. Steve has worked on Hospital Radio and Community Radio during His career, but prefers performing at Live ‘gigs’. Steve has performed in-store promotional work for Woolworths in all their South Wales stores, ‘Do It All’-Focus DIY for their Bank Holiday Family Bonanzas, Halfords, Phones 4U, Hilti Power Tools, Tesco, Platform Building Materials, Bourne Leisure, First Choice Holidays, Fashion Shows, and many functions for Texaco for various events. This work has involved the use of Steve’s PA system, vocal and promotional skills, backed up by party music to keep the atmosphere going throughout the day, as required by the client. Steve works as a completely versatile Personality and Mixing DJ with an extensive record and CD collection to enable music programming to suit any taste from a pure fun/student/party audience to specialist up-front dance music. The ability to read and feel the audience and gauge their response and mood is a major asset, and to play the right music for the right audience at the right time of the night. Steve is on the record mailing lists of all the top record and promotional companies so is receiving and is aware of all the current and future big dance anthems etc. Steve is just as comfortable working in a Dance Night Club environment as he is performing at a private party, wedding or corporate function. Versatility is the key word!! 6 years ago Steve changed the format of his music, from using vinyl to using a laptop, virtually by-passsing using CD’s, and painstakingly converted his entire music collection into MP3 format, and using a specialist DJ programme, now works off laptop computer with a personal music library of over 13,000 tracks covering every genre of music from ballroom to pop to house to dance to classics. A spare computer is always carried in the event of a problem, and for reliability and peace of mind. This obviously means mobility and portability is made easy with no bulky record or CD cases to carry, and space required at the venue is kept to a minimum to do the same professional job. The ‘Dee- Jaying job’ of playing the right music for the right audience is still the same, it just means that all Steve’s music is contained within 1 unit making the operation easier.
